The interplay between order and chaos underlies Ohad Lowy’s three groups of works displayed in the Projects Room. In the embroidery works, the text reliefs, and the paintings, it seems that Lowy strives to “implement” an organizing principle, a solution to the material and formal chaos. However, this principle remains on the surface level, as it does not lead to a clear solution but rather offers a possibility for understanding, an initial suggestion for reading the works.

In his drawings, Lowy embroiders a purportedly clear geometric motif on amorphous colorful backgrounds. The text works present a process that emerged from the exploration of writing in its various manifestations, which led to an ornamental labyrinth that reflects the artist’s organizing logic. From the fields of color, Lowy extracted figurative images and an unstructured aesthetic.

Either way, Lowy’s works in the exhibition shift between order and chaos, and from the outset neither option is definitive or clear.
